What Do You Value The Most
So, hi there…what do you truly value the most?
- What drives you?
- What holds you back?
There is nothing more powerful than when your goals and your actions are truly aligned with your values and your beliefs.
I have always stated this in my coaching and I stand behind this 100%.
Knowing your values help you navigate challenges, overcome road blocks and make decisions that will ensure you move forward with authenticity.
The problem is many people are not even aware of what’s truly important to them any more. What lies behind their drive and dedication.
Are you on auto pilot or are you living a life you love; working with people who inspire you, connected to friends who support you, sharing a life with those you feel you can be yourself with?
Are you working yourself to be over stressed physically and under nourished emotionally? Does kindness and love feature at the top of your list or is it financial success, recognition and prosperity.
What in your day fits with what you truly value the most? When’s the last time you really deeply thought about this.
Many of you won’t find this easy to answer. The good news is that when you take a moment to reflect and really think about what values resonate with you a whole new perspective opens up.
Can your values change?
Undeniably our goals and dreams change as we grow through life. There is generally a curve to BE, DO, HAVE and WANT before we think about what we really need and can give back on. What may have motivated you in the past will most probably have changed as your life moves through different phases.
The job, the title, travel and experiences may have been top of your list in your 20’s, setting a career up and building a name for yourself throughout your 30’s-40’s and then perhaps you started a family and the dynamic of why you were working became more about providing than proving…
Where are you now?
Once we let go of where we THINK we should be and truly take a moment to define what is deeply important it can have a life changing effect on the way we run our lives. Why do you do what you do?
- What is important to you to get from others around you – is it respect, financial reward, kindness, happiness or recognition?
Use this moment as a chance to check in with your core values. What is important to you right now.
From the list below what top 3 values speak to you the most. Don’t ask anyone else. Find a quiet place and feel what resonates.
Don’t be afraid to be honest. This is your list, your life. The more you step into who you truly are the better you will enjoy and succeed in life. By identifying what truly makes you tick it can unleash a whole new momentum in the way you communicate to others, understand your leadership/parenting style, acknowledge ways to set and reward goals and milestones and help those close to you give you what you need.
If you’re a manager to others consider what motivates them deep down. It may not be a pay rise or fancy corner office – it may actually be more time with their family that they value above cash and long hours.
If you’re going in for a new role or promotion think about what you most feel connected with. How can you communicate what motivates you to your team and management.
Go grab a quiet moment – run through this list and circle the top 3. Then choose THE most important non-negotiable value that must sit for you above everything else…
