Healthy Eating: Bliss Balls & Smoothies For Xmas

Here are two super easy to make recipes with a festive twist  – no cooking required and fun to make if you have kids that you need to keep busy as well. Get them involved in the kitchen.

I make the Bliss Balls to take with me when visiting etc and have in the fridge for snacks – you can make a batch and package them up nicely as gifts. Need to make twice the amount, then just double the recipe.

What you’ll need (Use organic or preservative free dried fruit & ingredients if possible)

1 Cup Walnuts (soak overnight along with the dates)

1 Cup Dates

1/2 cup diced dried apricots

Chia Seeds or LSA

1/2 cup almonds (soak overnight along with the dates & walnuts)

Lemon or Lime Zest (use a grater to get the rind off easily)

Lemon or Lime Juice (used to help bind and create moisture)

Natural Protein Powder (I use BSc Naturals Vegan Protein)

1 tsp Nutmeg

1 – 2 tsp Cinnamon

1 tsp Cardamon

Shredded Dried Coconut for rolling once ready

What To Do

Throw everything into a dicer/food processor and blend up until fine and sticky. Use the lemon/lime juice to create the right consistency – it should stick to the spoon and easily roll into a ball.

Grab a tablespoon and scoop out to roll by hand into a ball, then roll in the coconut.

Use bake paper to roll your balls with the coconut and line a dish or container while in the fridge.

*Warning : “The Myth Ball”  – when you speak about making these bliss balls but there are none to share – this can occur if you eat these as you make them..

SmoothoperatorsmoothieSmooth Operator Smoothie

This smoothie is a healthy  ‘EGGNOG’ looking style treat. I’ll be making this on Christmas morning along with buckwheat pancakes, fresh raspberries and tofu cream…Seriously yum.

What you’ll need

Frozen Banana
1/4 Cup Dates
Almond Milk
Natural Protein Powder (I use BSc Naturals Vegan Protein)
Nutmeg
Cinnamon
Ice
1 tablespoon Cashew Butter or Organic Peanut Butter

Throw it all in your blender – PUT THE LID ON – blend away and pour into your favourite giant glass. Sprinkle some cinnamon on at the end and you can get fancy with a sprig of mint on the side.

These are 2 non excuses options to dazzle your guests and keep your healthy living mantra on track too.

Have a fun making your own and have a fantastic week before Christmas
